This group offers a holistic, trauma-informed and experiential therapeutic approach. The group aims to help members discover strengths, uncover and realign belief systems, improve their ability to relate and interact with others, receive feedback, and identify how societal/cultural themes influence their identities and lives. We will use dialogue and discussion, integrating images and metaphors as they surface, focused on what is happening here-and-now to deepen our understanding of our relational experiences. In being curious about moments of disconnection within relationships, we can build greater awareness of ourselves, the collective and what is possible in our lives.

Being pregnant again after a miscarriage, perinatal loss or termination for medical reasons can present a host of unique and painful challenges. Many find that they are holding two realities at once – the hope and dreams that come with a new pregnancy, and the grief and anxiety that occur following a loss. It is important to know you are not alone; there are others on this path with you and many who have walked this path before. Join us for a four-week expressive arts support group in which we will explore the joys and difficulties of being pregnant again.

Are you someone who remembers their dreams every night or maybe someone who has never/rarely remembered their dreams? I invite you to attend this weekly dream circle where we will use tools to collectively explore imagery/experiences within the dream world. Based on teachings by former dream expert and social justice activist, Jeremy Taylor, and in the lineage of indigenous practices over millennia, this space is for us to wander into the collective unconscious and decipher messages together. Meetings will be every Wednesday over Zoom. This group is drop in, open to the public and sliding scale $25-$75.

Grief Support Groups

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
