I believe in plain talk and getting to the root of the issue. To that end, we will name the elephant in the room and then work together to meet the goals that you have for yourself and your mental well being. I've always said that theory and application are two different things. I will not make you fit into a preconceived psyche mold, rather we will plot the therapy course that meets your needs and goals from where you have been to where you are going. The distance between dreams and reality is called action. Take action.
Relapse, like recovery, is not a singular event; it is a process. Taking on a new way of thinking is no small task. In response to this, our team teaches mindfulness-based skills to our clients to ensure behavior modifications stick. Mindfulness serves as a powerful anchor to the present moment and to the reality that an individual is safe in the here and now. This is key when it comes to addiction and substance abuse as using substances as a way to escape the present moment will not fix but only accentuate a distressful presenting issue.

My ideal client is someone who knows that something is wrong but is having difficulty making it right; someone who may know that they cannot control negative thoughts and behaviors and feel "stuck" in their current situation; someone who needs tools and help to make their life better. My ideal client may know what their goals are but don't know how to achieve them or someone who is struggling to define their goals. In short, my ideal client is anyone who wants to begin or continue to improve their lives. Call, text or e-mail me to schedule a free 30 minute consultation so that you can decide if I can help.
This group uses the NADA protocol for auricular ear acupuncture using very small needles or beads and magnets to achieve the utmost level of relaxation. Participants sit in comfortable chairs in a room with low lighting and relaxing background music while the facilitator begins with a breathing exercise then begins the relaxation process using progressive relaxation and guided imagery until participants are completely relaxed. Participants are gently awoken to do a mindfulness exercise which promotes even deeper relaxation. The facilitator then performs the five point acupuncture on each client then allows more time for relaxation.
