I take a very down-to-earth approach to counseling. By focusing on what is real and the truth of one's experiences, I encourage my clients to participate in their own recovery processes and to develop new behaviors that produce new results and better solutions. It is my personal belief that as a society we have developed a dysfunctional lifestyle based on fantasy and myth. We act on these false beliefs every day, keeping us stuck in old, immature patterns of reactionary behavior, instead of responding to life's challenges as adults.
The inner critic is that voice within that limits you from reaching your full potential. It breaks down self-esteem by talking harshly to you or making you feel bad about yourself. In this group, we'll be identifying our own inner critics. We'll learn how inner critics work and why they do what they do. Most importantly we'll learn to quiet the critic. This group will empower you to free yourself from your inner critic and find confidence and security in yourself. THIS 5-WEEK GROUP BEGINS JANUARY 7, 2023. Call today to sign up!

You deserve to be loved and to feel like you belong. No matter your age, you need and deserve emotional and physical safety and security. When your needs are not met you may feel anxious, depressed, hopeless and dis-empowered. You may act out in self-destructive or unhelpful ways or may find yourself in unfulfilling relationships. Your needs matter. You are worthy of love, belonging, safety, security and success. If it doesn't feel that way to you, I want to help you discover your inherent value and worth.
I offer guided meditation training, focused on mindfulness meditation (as seen in TIME) but exploring other aspects/types as well. Groups are offered at various times through the week and year: lunch, late afternoon, and early evening. Meditation is valuable against anxiety, depression, lack of meaning in life, anger, grief, spirituality as well as a multitude of health issues such as fibromyalgia, blood pressure/cardiac issues, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, attention/concentration, weight loss, etc.
Groups are mixed by issue and gender, with time for guided teaching/practice and brief discussion of making meditation work in your life.
I believe we're shaped by biological (heredity, diet, hormones), psychosocial (peers, family, job stress), and psychological influences (thoughts, self-esteem, perfectionism). Addressing the mind-body interaction is critical. I guide and teach, helping clients learn new skills such as meditation and meridian tapping to handle life stresses. Clients who best fit my style wish to let go of negative patterns of self-doubt, guilt, worry, and feeling "never good enough." My therapy focus is here-and-now, focusing on mind-body habits, to develop new behaviors, recondition brain connections, to go beyond mere understanding or insight.
DBT SKILLS GROUPS are available to Adults, Adolescents, Caregivers/Family. Groups teach the following Skills: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Dialectics, Middle Path, and Validation.

Parenting is challenging. Committed relationships take work. Let us collaborate with you and your partner on the journey. Parenting While Committed offers unique strength-based services to renew connection and partnership for committed partners as they navigate parenting.
Dr. Wise has gathered invaluable insights over years of partnering with couples and families. Relationships are not static. To flourish, partners consistently reflect on themselves, family, and partnership. Therapy provides an opportunity to increase insight, understanding, and connection. All services operate from the premise that there is no right way to navigate parenting, relationships, and family. Instead, our work with families aims to support clients' ability to make decisions that honor their values and beliefs. As a result, clients become more connected in their intimate relationship and more closely aligned as parents.
Mental health professionals have needs for support just like anyone else. I will run the group but the group will take into account the need for privacy and respect for each individual. This is more of a support group, however, I will lead, direct, and teach so I do charge $10 a group to each person.

"Be caring, curious, and then compassionate." I practice these three steps just as I teach them. I studied psychology, counseling, and family therapy for 12 years to become the best therapist I could be and to know how best to help someone work through depression or anxiety. I especially enjoy working with couples to help create their healthiest relationship. My speciality is working with parents and their children even if they are grown.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor helping women and teens manage anxiety, depression, life transitions and trauma. You may have experienced therapy in the past where you talk about your current thoughts, feelings and issues. I do incorporate this into the therapy experience but also include several other methods that clients have often never encountered before and find uniquely beneficial. Using psychodrama, we apply roleplay and role reversal to help process feelings and thoughts.

I help men and women release problematic patterns through guiding them to a deeper and authentic understanding of their life. Once a pattern is understood and released, I support them in stepping into their own personal power, which is needed to create new healthy patterns of living. With this renewed sense of self empowerment, new patterns are woven together from a place of self-understanding, self-love and self-authorship; a greater sense of wholeness, happiness, and true inner peace physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually emerges. You’re invited to a private and confidential group of women and mothers who are curious about the cavernous layers of disordered eating (ED) and distorted body experiences (DBE). This group may be for you if you have found yourself thrust into the world of ED and DBE, and realize it is far more complex to comprehend and navigate, and you or someone you love have fatigue from the invalidation implied in food rules and beauty standards that are disconnected to true needs. Sometimes, we need each other to tell a new story, more: www.hollyklynch.com/privatewomensgroup.

FAQs - About Group Therapy and Support Groups
How can I find a support group in 75231?
Search for nearby support groups by inputting your city, zip code, or the name of the group into the search bar. From there, you can filter to find a group that suits your needs, whether you are looking for support for a teenager, a group that focuses on a specific issue, such as depression, or a particular program type, such as one geared toward developing social skills. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.
How does group therapy work?
Therapy groups are led by one or more therapists and serve to help people process their experiences and learn from others who understand their challenges firsthand. They can be based on a specific issue, such as addiction, grief, physical illnesses, parenting, and caregiving. They can involve a specific type of program or therapy, such as a social skills group or CBT group. They can also be specific to a particular population or community, such as teens or LGBTQ.
Support groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous, also focus on a specific issue, but are typically led by members with lived experiences and are less structured than therapy groups. Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.

Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.
What are the benefits of group therapy?
Support groups help connect people with shared challenges or physical and mental health conditions. In a group setting, participants can receive support and feedback from peers and can acquire new skills, strategies and perspectives by listening to one another. Discussing your experience with someone who also has a cancer diagnosis, or whose son also struggles with addiction, for example, can help you feel less alone, reduce distress, find empathy and connection, and learn practical or medical information that has helped others. Group therapy can also be a more affordable option than individual therapy and just as effective.
Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?
Support groups can be deeply valuable for both emotional support and/or treatment outcomes. It’s difficult to make a blanket statement on efficacy due to the many different types of support groups and conditions treated, but group therapy has been found to be just as effective as individual therapy in establishing long-term abstinence for conditions such as substance abuse, addiction and alcohol abuse.
How much does group therapy cost?
Group counseling is typically less expensive than individual counseling, with each session costing on average between $60 to $75. Meanwhile, individual therapy sessions can run anywhere from $100 to $200 and up, even after insurance. It is possible to find low-cost group therapy options and many therapists offer group sessions free of charge.
Does insurance cover group therapy?
As with individual therapy, many insurance companies do offer coverage for group therapy sessions. However, the coverage varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider. Individuals are encouraged to check with their insurance providers to verify coverage.
How long does group therapy last?
The length of a support group session is often one hour but can fall anywhere between 45 minutes and two hours. The amount of time that people remain in a support group varies based on their specific needs and goals and the type of therapy. Some individuals may seek a shorter-term group, such as a bereavement group, that may last between six and 20 weeks. Some may seek a longer-term group that lasts for a year or indefinitely.
What are the limitations of support groups?
Support groups have many benefits, but there are a few limitations as well. Support groups do not constitute formal therapeutic or medical treatment, and are not run by licensed mental health professionals, so some people may opt for group therapy or individual therapy instead. Additionally, support groups can depend on the other participants, so a disruptive individual has the potential to mar the group dynamic, and the anecdotal information shared may sometimes be unhelpful or inaccurate. Because it is a group setting, confidentiality can be more difficult to guard and participants receive less personalized attention than they would in an individual therapy session.
