Life presents us with many challenges - you do not have to struggle through it alone. Pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, work/life balance, relationship issues and grief are my particular areas of specialty. Therapy offers an opportunity to address painful feelings, stressful events and difficult relationships in a warm, supportive way. Together, we will explore the challenges you have been facing and find the path forward that creates the changes you are looking for.

Our process group integrates several evidence-based approaches, we will give great focus on what is happening in the "hear-and-now" relationship between group members. Most of our personal work comes from incomplete parenting, unsafe and unsatisfying relationships, and our inability to be fully authentic with our desires, needs, and wants. The goal of your engagement in the group is to become more honest, spontaneous, and communicative as you reduce shame and express yourself more authentically. Belonging to a healthy group a fast-track to personal healing and transformation through creating healthy attachments.

My approach to psychotherapy is to create a safe space where you can explore and heal the difficult and painful issues that are showing up in your life. Together we will move beyond problem-solving into releasing the deeply held mistaken beliefs and core unresolved issues behind your symptoms. My body-centered and somatic approach allows me to work directly with your nervous system to address symptoms like anxiety, racing thoughts, and irrational fears as well as feeling stuck, depressed and unavailable or unresponsive to life and relationships.

Too often men who are abused feel disconnected from themselves and the people around them. Gender expectations can interfere with men seeking help and receiving the support they deserve. This group will provide education about sexual and physical abuse and how current behaviors often are linked to past abuse. We will help survivors reframe many current symptoms and behaviors as real attempts to cope with past trauma, supporting the establishment of healthy coping skills. In a safe environment, participants can address the feelings of shame, isolation and stigmatization which are sometimes amplified for males coping with the impact of abuse.

Children (ages 6-12) will increase understanding of themselves and build self-confidence through art therapy projects that promote self-expression. When an art therapy project is emotionally connecting, clients become thoughtful and focused as they express their beliefs and feelings. The group allows for voices to be heard and welcomed as each is invited to share about aspects of their art therapy projects. This calm and creative environment allows for an openness to learning more about oneself and connecting with others.

We are a team of therapists serving children in individual and group therapy sessions. No one is born with an instruction manual. We learn through trial and error. However, sometimes children get stuck in this process. Whether it is a bump in the road, a devastating event or one's own stagnation; growth and progress are put on hold. It doesn't have to be that way! Less problems are possible in a healthy environment with dedicated professional therapists willing to meet you every step of the way. Help is out there. All you have to do is AASC (ASK).

All of us -- women and men, young and old, poor, middle class and upscale folks, minorities and majorities -- have to deal with complexity. As a therapist I help heal hurts from the past, assist clients in managing present challenges, and work collaboratively to create more satisfying future lives. The people who see me for individual, couples and family therapy represent a culturally diverse group. Their difficulties range from anxiety and depression, to stress disorders, OCD/OCPD, relationship problems, employment issues, and bereavement. Many of these women and men report quick progress in better managing their personal, family, academic, and work lives.

When I was looking for my first therapist, I wanted someone older and smarter to tell me what to do, how to take the pain away. Twenty five years and six therapists later, I want a Sherpa - someone who's been where I have yet to go to show me that it's possible. I've already lived through several lifetimes. I've sat through the havoc of a divorce and the shame of causing pain to my children, the confusion of starting anew, the anxiety of dating, the elation of a new love and a crushing heartbreak of a betrayal. The agonizing loneliness of falling asleep in an empty bed and the complete inability to get up the next morning.

We all have to deal with challenges: difficult relationships, troubling emotions, threatening health issues, impending deadlines & stress. To make matters worse, the way we deal with these challenges can lead to more difficulties & even greater suffering. While this may be a common experience, it doesn’t have to be yours. In fact, research on neuroscience & mindfulness-based practices shows that we can have a choice. Instead of simply reacting by default & making things worse; during this 6-week program, you will learn to respond mindfully & act skillfully. You will discover that by training your mind, you change your brain, which can transform your life.
