This is an open group that supports people suffering from chronic illness. We meet virtually every two weeks and discuss physical and mental illness issues. We use humor and many other tools to cope with flare-ups and medical frustrations, family and work problems and more. Members make suggestions about doctors, clinics and specific treatments.
The stresses of life occasionally take such a toll on us that we need an experienced professional. I have 30 years as a mental health therapist and specialize in trauma, loss, addiction, depression, anxiety and medical trauma. I also work with individuals suffering from the physical issues that often accompany a series of stressful events. I see adults, couples, and adolescents. I find a unique blend of cognitive/behavioral, psychodynamic, mindfulness, bibliotherapy and expressive techniques for each client. I also provide clients with community supports and resources to supplement our work together when appropriate.
This group will be for adults suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and borderline personality disorder. The group will meet once weekly and members are to commit to attending for six months. Members will learn concrete skills to manage and cope with their everyday lives. Four modules will be covered in the group: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Relationships.
I believe engaging in a therapy relationship benefits all. It is important in this setting to feel safe, heard as well as understood without judgement. I work with adolescents as well as adults navigating through lives filled with relationship conflicts, school and academic stressors, communication breakdowns, body image issues, suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse. I want my clients to feel how important their issues and progress are to me and that I will do my very best to help them reach their goals.
Writing can help us process our experiences, and that can ultimately lead us to a place of acceptance and hope. With gentleness and compassion, we'll explore how writing down our memories - from the heart - consoles, illuminates, and heals. Group to begin 9/26/2024

Want to support your transgender or nonbinary child? Looking for a therapist with some shared lived experiences but also plain old therapist experience? People who work with me say things like "I'm worried about a relationship", "Life totally sucks right now and I don't know what to do", "How do I navigate parenthood on top of everything else"?, "It's hard to find my community and I'm lonely", "I've becoming a 'professional gay' which comes with its own challenges" . "I am leaving or have left an abusive relationship". If you're ready for some deep exploration that honors your values, culture, and spiritual practices, let's do it!
