Tarvez Tucker, M.D., is Professor of Neurology and Neurocritical Care and a Neuroscience Intensive Care physician at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. She is the recipient of the American Academy of Neurology Award for Creative Expression of Human Values in Neurology. Her forthcoming book, The Brain at Twilight: The Neuroscience of Our Last Words and Moments, will be published this fall by Columbia University Press.

Prior to her fellowship in the care of critically injured or ill neurologic patients, she was a headache specialist, as Director of Case Western Reserve’s Headache Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Tucker was chosen for the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and has been honored by her peers as one of “America’s Best Doctors” for six consecutive years.

Dr. Tucker also served as a neurologist for the National Football League, examining Cincinnati Bengals players suspected of having a concussion…a harrowing experience!
