Dr. Sherrie Bourg Carter, Psy.D., is a psychologist and an author who specializes in the area of women and stress. Her most recent book, High-Octane Women: How Superachievers Can Avoid Burnout, offers expert advice to high-achieving women on how to cope with the unique challenges in their lives and maintain a realistic and healthy work/life balance.

She also has been a guest columnist for Cindy Krischer Goodman’s column, “The Work/Life Balancing Act,” at the Miami Herald and she is a featured writer at, a networking site for career minded women. Some of Dr. Bourg Carter’s other publications on the topic of stress include numerous articles as a featured mental health contributor at Associated Content, a book chapter on professional burnout in John Wesley Hall’s Professional Responsibility in Criminal Defense Practice (3rd ed.), and an article for the American Journal of Family Law, titled When the Enemy Lies Within: Risk for Professional Burnout Among Family Law Attorneys.

She’s currently working on a new book for parents that will help them help their children soar academically and socially while, at the same time, not burnout from the extraordinary demands and expectations our society places on tweens and teens today.
