Patricia H. Hasbach, Ph.D., is a licensed psychotherapist, consultant, author, and college educator, as well as a pioneer in the practice of ecotherapy. In private practice for three decades, Dr. Hasbach offers traditional therapy and ecotherapy to adults, couples, families, and groups. She consults with hospitals, schools, businesses, correctional facilities, and community groups. Dr. Hasbach is the former codirector of the Ecopsychology Certificate Program in the Graduate School of Education and Counseling at Lewis & Clark College where she taught for 13 years. She sits on the editorial board of the peer-reviewed journal Ecopsychology.

Dr. Hasbach is the author of Prescribing Nature: A Clinician’s Guide to Ecotherapy (2025) published by W.W. Norton, and of Grounded: A Guided Journal to Help You Connect with the Power of Nature and Yourself (2022), published by Simon & Schuster. She is also an author and co-editor of The Rediscovery of the Wild (2013) and Ecopsychology: Science, Totems, and the Technological Species (2012), published by MIT Press.

Dr. Hasbach’s work focuses on the psychological benefits of human-nature interactions, the psychological impacts of climate change, and on the intersection of human health and planetary health. Her work has appeared in numerous popular outlets including Time Magazine, Vogue, Outside Magazine, Sierra Magazine, The Smithsonian, Popular Science, The Christian Science Monitor, National Geographic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and Metro UK.
