About

Across the mental health field, countless patients are misunderstood because of bias—political, religious, gender-based, and more. These biases shape research, influence how clinicians are trained, and distort how care is delivered. The result is a loss of trust between therapists and patients, leaving many without the help they need. The Open Therapy Institute (OTI) is building the professional community to change that—connecting research, training, and practice to equip therapists to serve all patients with awareness, compassion, and clinical skill.
