About

Mark B. Borg, Jr., Ph.D., and Haruna Miyamoto-Borg, LCSW, are co-authors of Love. Crash. Rebuild. and co-bloggers for this series. Together, they bring experience as clinicians, teachers, and partners in life, working at the intersection of psychology, community crisis intervention, and couples therapy. Their work is rooted in both scholarship and lived experience—developing the PACER model (Pause, Accountability, Collaboration, Experiment, Reset) out of their own marriage and clinical practice as a practical, step-by-step process to help couples move from rupture to repair.

Dr. Borg is a clinical/community psychologist and psychoanalyst in private practice in New York City, a founding partner of The Community Consulting Group, and a supervisor of psychotherapy at the William Alanson White Institute. He has written extensively on psychoanalysis, community crisis intervention, and relationships, including co-authoring the Irrelationship series and writing Don’t Be a Dick. He is also the lead singer of the New York City surf-core band, Oedipus Triple Rex. Ms. Miyamoto-Borg is a licensed psychotherapist who works with couples, individuals, and families across diverse backgrounds, cultures, and orientations. Her career began in New York’s nonprofit sector, where she worked with people facing homelessness, severe mental illness, and social injustice, and she has continued to specialize in helping clients navigate life’s most challenging stressors with resilience and compassion. She has advanced training from the William Alanson White Institute and the Ackerman Institute for the Family, and is certified as an Anger Management Specialist.

Together, they are committed to developing theory and practice based on their experience and utilizing this to make psychological tools that are accessible, actionable, and culturally attuned for anyone seeking transformation in love and life.
