Laura A. Cariola CPsychol

Dr. Laura A. Cariola, CPsychol, is an applied psychologist and linguist. Laura is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society, Division of Academics, Researchers and Teachers in Psychology, and a member of the Division of Counselling Psychology. At the University of Edinburgh, she is a lecturer in applied psychology, and programme director of the MSc Mental Health in Children and Young People: Psychological Approaches (Online Learning). As part of this programme, she is the organiser of two courses, “Social Inequality and Child and Adolescent Mental Health” and "Child Migration and Mental Health." Reflecting recent trends in child mental health research, her research focusses on the experiences of and provision of mental health support to transcultural children, adults and families, with a particular focus on so-called “Third Culture Kids”(TCKs) who accompany their parents in global migration. Other research of Laura's focusses on stigma and representations of mental health problems in the media.
