Emma Seppälä Ph.D.
Emma Seppälä, Ph.D., is a Lecturer at the Yale School of Management, Faculty Director of the Yale School of Management's Women's Leadership Program, Science Director of Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education and an international keynote speaker. Her book The Happiness Track (HarperOne, 2016) has been translated into dozens of languages.
Emma Seppälä’s areas of expertise are positive leadership, emotional intelligence, well-being and social connection. Her scholarly research has been published in top academic journals like Frontiers and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and featured in major news outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, ABC News, CBSNews and the World Economic Forum. She speaks internationally for Fortune 500 companies like Google and Facebook, advises leaders on how to build a positive organization, and is a frequent contributor to Harvard Business Review, The Washington Post, Psychology Today and TIME.
Seppälä consults with corporations on building positive organizations. She regularly addresses academic, corporate, and governmental institutions.
She holds an undergraduate degree in comparative literature from Yale University, a master’s degree in East Asian languages and cultures from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University. Originally from Paris, France, she is a native speaker of French, English, and German.
