Elizabeth Mateer, Ph.D., is a neuropsychology fellow, researcher, and writer specializing in brain-behavior relationships. Her work explores attention, identity, and the neuropsychological foundations of creativity, with particular interest in how individuals construct meaning through art, work, and lived experience.

Mateer has conducted neuropsychological evaluations across diverse medical and psychiatric populations and is currently completing advanced clinical training affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on cognitive functioning and traumatic brain injury, with an emphasis on translating complex findings into insights relevant to everyday life.

In addition to her academic work, she is the author of two poetry collections, Searching for Home (2024) and A New Type of Breakfast (2026). Across her scientific and creative writing, Mateer examines how attention, resilience, and self-authorship shape the ongoing process of becoming.
