Dave Smallen Ph.D.
Dave Smallen, Ph.D., is a research psychologist and community faculty at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN. His work focuses on researching and communicating how people cultivate connection and well-being in relationships, families, and community. He earned a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from University of Wisconsin-Madison during which he conducted research as an affiliate of The Social Interaction Lab in the Department of Psychology at University of Minnesota. In addition to blogging for Psychology Today, Dave’s writing has appeared in The Conversation and Salon, and his research can be found in academic journals such as the Journal of Family Psychology and the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships.
