I doubt it is evolution causing higher autism rates, I would consider better diagnostic methods as being more the culprit here. Additionally I don't see how a social disorder as a "beneficial trait." I don't mean to sound harsh, because plenty of positive traits are associated with autism like higher intelligence, but I don't see how impaired social skills will lead to an advantage in reproductive ability.
