I did not get sober until after so many attempts of going to AA because everyone said that is how you get sober. AA was making me a far worse drunk. The tension brought on by meetings was too much. AA is not treatment. Thank god I went out and actually got treatment. I have been sober for nearly 3 years. I would certainly be dead if I had kept going to AA. Glad it works for some people, but for others it is a pit.
