"Not owning" the answer is a big one. Another example that I heard recently: I asked why a company changed their mind about hiring me at the last minute (after they sent me the contract to sign). The person who had recruited me said: "I wasn't in the meeting so was not privy to why they decided against hiring you." That's ok- I let it go and found another job. I wished I could say "Liar liar pants on fire!" but I'm a grown-up now…usually. :-)

I'm not being sarcastic by saying that most people lie over 50% of the time- some are better than others. It helps to learn how to catch the deception of the better deceivers.
