Has anyone considered slecting out groups for whom the placebo effect occurs and others where it does not. I ask because many years ago a group of Australian anaesthetists visiting China found that patients were selected in advance for surgery with acupuncture only and the % chosen as suitable was about 30% of those tested. I began wondering when no class of analgaesic relieved back pain for me for any time and in any degree. Might it be an individual characteristic?
