I also wonder if you surveyed the same women over a period of time (for instance across years or in different points in their menstrual cycle) you would get different responses. When I read your post I think that one reason there might be a disconnect between what I think I would respond to and what I really would respond to is because my culture could me influencing what I think, but not my physical response (for example, I’ve been told that I shouldn’t find a particular set of characteristics/behaviors attractive, but in reality I do) Another possibility is that from a long term perspective I might be looking for certain characteristics/behaviors, but depending on my hormones or emotions on a particular day I might look at these behaviors in an entirely different light (for example, I might not want to raise a baby with a guy displaying these characteristics/behaviors, but I could sure enjoy him this afternoon).
