There's new evidence that depression is not just a disorder of the mind.

First of all i think it's not only North American phenomena (US and Canada) but also West-European. There IS an emphasis (obsession) on youth, there is a message that we, 40 +, receive on a daily basis, via media or other channels, that it is not really hip to be 40 or over. I don't want to put myself in the victims role (by the way, people always estimate me at least 7 years younger than i am) but it is difficult for women and men to keep their confidence with all these (subtle) negative messages we get in society about aging. And it is true that also men 'suffer' from being invisible. Maybe, we just don't take the effort to really notice eachother?
Thanks GrahamJ for the encouragement. It's hard but the only solution: be your own example.
