I think your article is fantastic and provides some wonderful insights. Zen Buddhism and Taoism have taught these principles for millennia (the principles being the healthy practice of non-attachment - i.e. 'let go and let God' - alongside the concept of personal responsibility) and the apparent contradiction is simply not considered. Why? Because Eastern thought contains the startlingly advanced idea (see: quantum mechanics, i.e. light as particle /and/ wave) that two ideas or principles can appear to be contradictory and yet both be true. It's all a matter of perspective. When we set aside the ridiculously egotistical idea that we actually know something and begin to view everything with wonder, we are capable of actual learning...not "facts and figures" or what we consider "knowledge," but learning real wisdom.
