Thank you for the insightful article. I think you hit the nail on the head about the need for more training in managing and treatment of possibly suicidal clients. Unfortunately, this is one of the more difficult mental health conditions to face because the warning signs of depression are often subtle that by the time they are noticed it's almost too late. People live with them for so many years they start to tell themselves that's just "the way it is" or they believe something is wrong with them.
Another aspect is the lingering cultural stigma against people who seek treatment for their mental health problems. Hopefully it continues to ease up over time, however.
