All children want to learn. Some have challenges beyond the classroom and it comes out in it. I feel sorry for the students you say do not want to learn. The reality is some teachers are not qualified to teach particular children or adults. I think it is unfortunate you have such strong condemnation for some that may just not like your style of teaching enough to flourish in your classroom. Many of my teachers were so blah as a kid I probably came across that way to them then. Standardized testing is a problem not for the teachers but the children. Some of them learn differently from different teachers. Obviously you have seen this firsthand. They can not standardize test perception. If you cared about how effective you were as a teacher you would look inside yourself on those children you thought did not want to learn, and find out why they did not want to learn from you.
