Thanks for sharing your experience Rebecca. My wife is a teacher and has struggled with the same challenges. I work at University with a Teacher's Education Program and I can see how they are now training robot teachers to build effective robots.
My wife left the regular stream and entered special education where the same standards were modified thus permitting a teacher to come up with approaches to approximate the same outcome. As an Art educator my wife incorporated art to teach virtually every subject to developmentally delayed kids, mental health kids, and child welfare kids.
I hope you have found another means in the "real real world "where your creative talents of engaging and stimulating interest in the true learning process could flourish.
