Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

How about being more specific ... seriously, what does "all the wrong reasons" mean exactly? There are few things more annoying than a person who drops a vague criticism, then stops writing.
Oh, and on the "real science" part:
1) If you read his books, you'll find some pretty persuasive arguments.
2) I suspect the reason he was allowed to practice in a medical school setting FOR DECADES is because they had to grudgingly admit that the guy had a lot of successful patient outcomes.
