Boy! I thought I was the only one who didn't think everything was funny. You have found words for some of my very sentiments. I've been reading author Scott Weens 'HA!' and learning to understanding humor from a scientific perspective. I thought I needed to learn to laugh, but now I see that I don't need to learn how to laugh, rather I need to learn what to laugh at. And, you are right. What many people are laughing at isn't at all funny. I'll see humor differently for the rest of my life. Enjoyed your post.
