No one wants to feel like their life is tee total crap. Most of us actively go through our crappy lives looking for opportunities to change it. Personally I don't sit around going "woe is me, my life is terrible I need someone else to fix it". The thing you're neglecting to realize Mark is dealing with stressful situations on a daily basis is physically and emotionally draining and occasionally we just want someone to basically talk at. If they pay attention that's a bonus. But telling someone their hardships are essentially imaginary or worse self caused is naive. Not to mention the story is badly written on both sides.
