Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

Unfortunately I know the feeling too. But on a strange note, I've become the person that interrupts and talks forever around my family. This happened to me because of growing up with an extroverted dad who didn't allow me any say. I think I just got feed up with it and now I'm scared to not have a chance to speak out. It can be a problem sometimes with my introvert mom and sister who have to say, "can I have a turn?" It's a hard balance. If we're not careful we can let it get away from us. It's very sad this happens to people and that everyone thinks it's okay.
