I disagree somewhat. Stayed friends with my ex for our daughter and she's appreciated it to this day. However, I didn't contact him (unless it concerned daughter), didn't keep tabs on him, didn't pine after him, etc. I realize this is not always possible because some people become bitter when their heart is broken. I am thankful I had this arrangement. Made the divorce and moving forward with my future so much easier and less stressful.
The desire to be seen in a positive light can give rise to dangerous behaviors.
