You are correct about the late Christopher Hitchens who would debate something quite harshly with theist, without a necessarily being a scholar in science or religion( but still a great mind to be respected). But you are also very wrong about Richard Dawkins who is always debating in a calm and methodical fashion and who is a world renown evolutionary biologist. He never pretend to know, as you say "the ultimate truth". He himself very clearly writes that no one can know with absolute certainty about the existence of a god or not, but point out that the scientific facts and what we can observe and analyse point out strongly to the absence of such being.
