Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

Nothing wrong in terms of the suggestions, but they are geared towards pre-planning which is okay. I found the article a bit...well, not misleading, but lacking, because there's nothing really there about to do if you start driving and find that you're drowsy, that would have been equally beneficial. Things like blaring music, opening the window, forcing the eyes back and forth on the road so that you're hyptonized, that sort of thing.
