I have always know about
I have always know about knocking on wood and how it was supposed to keep away bad luck. I was not aware of how it came about though. I didn't know that the act was pushing or physically hitting something away form you. It makes sense that pushing something physically away can make it feel like the event or situation is physically away as well.
