What are options to compulsory school? Has someone come up with a workable model?
While I agree with some of the content of this article, I disagree that people should just 'walk' away from whatever, simply because they have the freedom to do so. That calls for a disastrous, chaotic, characterless and undisciplined living. We must embrace both these tensions that while we do have the freedom to do everything, including the freedom to walk away, yet not everything is beneficial when acted upon. I bet we have furthered the notion of 'rights' or 'freedoms' to a fault.Wherever we are or go, we will be within certain constrains and boundaries. How we manage those is entirely up to us, so I find the notion of 'quitting' or 'walking away' every time something gets uncomfortable rather unrealistic.
