One can choose to look anyway they wish. I assume the way people present themselves sends a strong message they wish to convey.
One can choose to wear neat clothing and comb their hair, or one can choose to cover their face with tattoos and scowl. Either way, this is people making a choice on what others will takeaway from their visual.
For this reason, I choose to enthusiastically to take whatever message is being sent my way to heart. If one takes on a dangerous and menacing demeanor I will assume that in that person's heart they choose to be dangerous and menacing. If one looks pleasant and pleasing I will accept that they will make an effort to be pleasant and pleasing.
If you don't wish to be judged a hooligan then make the choice not to look like a hooligan.
