Thank you for your initial cautions and balanced discussion. Nonverbals' meanings usually depend on context and relationships etc... Most nonverbal-decoding articles skip past this empirical reality. My book The Power of Context spends a couple of chapters here and even raises questions about whether training can substantially improve accuracy in nonverbal decoding, such as in detecting deception. But I'm open to some techniques (such as the videotaping mentioned here) having more success than others.
