Might this partially explain why women and girls with ASD are so frequently misdiagnosed with BPD? Women and girls with ASD *are* more frequently rejected than other women and girls, can reasonably expect to be more frequently rejected because others react badly to autistic traits, and find it more difficult to read others to work out whether they're being rejected or not. Their behaviour would adapt to this, and might end up looking outwardly similar to that of someone who has high rejection sensitivity for other reasons.
