Why are so many people drawn to conspiracy theories in times of crisis?

I have been looking into this for 4 years now. I have come to find that it also relates to humans feeling inferior to other humans, feeling on the same level as animal, due to certain humans who will not accept anything 'other' which makes them Narcissistic also. Some seem to lack the empathy for people who are different from them and so they reject them and make them feel less human, more animal. But also being aware that animals are intelligent like us, they are not that different, and so there is a kind of paradox, because some animals lack empathy they say etc, but that is what a lot of humans do, they are animalistic without realizing, they cannot be inside someones head which is different to their own, if it is too different and not to their liking, they will reject it our of the group, for survival reasons. I just feel I have noticed from research that some animals and humans are creepily similar in the way they work for survival. and they say we should expect more from humans...
