"Coping by repressing emotions is sometimes effective." You spoiled an otherwise reasonable article (for this site anyway) with this ridiculous statement. Where is the evidence for it? Effective in what sense? Repressing emotion is effective at repressing emotion. It has no other benefit. It closes off the means of healing and merely hides the wound. It causes long term damage, as the pain goes underground. It causes other mental and physical symptoms which must then be addressed, all to no avail because the root cause has been lost. This is what philosophers tend to do, and why they are so mad. They end up living entirely in their heads. Please don't follow this stupid, unconscionable advice.
