I just read most but not all of the above comments. What I
understand from them is that commenters are often explaining
one side of an (at least) two-sided problem. Creating and enforcing immigration laws and policies vs compassionate treatment for desperate individuals and families seeking
safe, stable life. Both are critical and valuable perspectives. Neither is right or wrong. I want us all and our leaders to confront the problem of having to blend these seemingly contradictory human needs for order and for solicitude. It is not impossible to resolve if opposing camps embrace our shared quandary.
