as a teenager you probably knew your parents would be back, you probably had had years of experiences of then going and coming.... despite this you probably would react far more traumatised if they were separated from you against your will, in circumstances where you probably didn’t expect it (traumatic death,suicide, being kidnapped/held hostage, or purely the parents just left/abandoned you/no answer provided) and where there absence does not make sense ect.....when the threat of your attachment has been activated....I doubt that your response to being separated will remain the same (looking forward to mon and dad being gone).
