I find that smiling is intrinsically liked to confidence. Confident people often smile more than others do. I don't think this is a coincidence. A lot of people I meet on my confidence courses who struggle with self-confidence also find it difficult to smile. It's amazing how much more confident smiling can make them feel. Even a fake smile works (your Point #5 is very true Meg). You can see the difference in people after just one day of practising smiling more.
