Initiating contact, or initiating any activity, actually takes an inner starter engine. That starter engine sometimes is stronger and sometimes is weaker. People who smoke too much marijuana, for instance, sometimes lose their starter engine. People with ADD sometimes have starter engine problems.
With aging also, the starter engine sometimes goes out along with memory difficulties and other gradual losses of higher level mental functioning.
