Depression does not really work like that. I am stoked to hear that you were able to transition through anxiety by realizing that people like you but saying people like you or you like yourself so you should not be depressed is like saying I drank a lot of milk growing up so I should have not developed Cancer, they are completely unrelated things.
I think very highly of myself and have many people who love me but I still suffer from extreme depression. As they say depression is an illness, I feel that it is a physiological miswiring of my brain either way it is an actual physical thing that can not be "thought" out of.
