Sometimes it’s better to quit than to doggedly plug on. Yet our culture does not promote giving up, it’s better to persevere and show some grit. We want to persist because there is a feeling of sunk cost—we put time into a particular endeavor, we can’t give up. This applies to all domains, work and love to start. But face it, sometimes perseverance doesn’t make sense.
