Interesting. According to that poll published on the Time Out website, British accents won with 27% and Scottish accents won with 4.7%. Is Scotland not a part of Britain? I think the people conducting the poll flunked their geography exams or they generalised or even mistook what they thought was the BBC / posh London / Home Counties accent to be one that was spoken throughout England.
But for the purpose of this comment, let us stick with England. There are many different accents in England itself, most of them are quite distinguishable from each other. What exactly is a sexy English accent? Is it the accent that Her Majesty The Queen uses or the accent Daniel Craig has when he plays James Bond or is it the Brummie (ie, from Birmingham, central England) accent that is heard every time Ozzy Osbourne speaks? And how about that wide brogue West Country accent that can be heard in places such as Bristol, Plymouth and Exeter? No? Well why not try the Geordie accent spoken in the North East of England? Yes, even for our American cousins across the pond, the concentration of differing English accents may be confusing - some even unheard of - when they find themselves in another part of the region like, say, Liverpool. Hey, y'all remember The Beatles right? They spoke with Scouse accents. These are just a few examples of English accents but if we are talking British accents, then how about the accents in Scotland and Ireland (mentioned separately in the poll) and even the Welsh accent?
As an aside, it does make me wonder why Hollywood has a history of casting movie villains that have 'British' accents. The vultures in Disney's Jungle Book or Jeremy Irons as the baddie in Die Hard are but two examples. Is this something relating to the bad blood left over from the War of Independence? Perhaps that is a topic for another study.
The sexiness of regional vocal tonality is in the ear of the beholder. Should I ever become single, I shall make a note to travel Stateside and become an English teacher. One can teach English, but being British is inherent.

Sarf London and proud of it.
