In honor of Breastfeeding Month, here are some key things you should know about breastfeeding--its benefits to moms and babies:

For moms: Without traumatic history, breastfeeding is pleasurable (humans would have died off if it were not). And it protects mom’s health (e.g., decreases chances of breast cancer and Alzheimer's).

For babies, it’s not just “food.” It has thousands of ingredients vital for optimal health that contribute to building the immune system and brain systems for higher intelligence and sociality.
