Today's cartoon is about the bad habit of treating each day just like the last one, in front of the boob tube. Let's not do that. Peg Streep has put together 5 ways to get out of a rut. She explains that one of the reasons we get INTO a rut is because of intermittend reinforcement: you've seen that TV show before, but that one line was very funny, so why not watch it again!

One of her suggestions for change is to Set Attainable Goals. Try a new show, or even a new channel.  Or -- and this is a hard one -- what if you don't watch TV at all tonight?

Forbes has some good tips on how to shake it up, too. #7 says to Blame it On Your Best Friends. (or something similar.) But my favorite is #8:

“You get what you get ready for.”

This is my own personal ideology, which I've boiled down to: Be Ready For, and it works in any situation.

Of course, no one should be in a rut, or watch reruns this month, anyway, which is Fall Series Premieres for TV. I love TV, and although I haven't seen most of the new shows yet, so far I haven't found any Must See TV.
