Trauma and PTSD Therapists in Queenstown
I am trained in a range therapies whether top down or bottom up somatic therapies including trauma based EMDR therapy
A therapist with a difference. The past 21 years in this field have taught me that besides being professional, well trained, a therapist has to be genuinely humane, humble, approachable, and compassionate with a sense of humour, whilst supporting, walking with clients on their journey to wellness. I don’t give advice, because I believe each client is the expert of their own lives. No individual person is a problem but a problem is a problem and my job is to help clients recover remember and reclaim their agency. I was not there at the start nor can change it but I can be there to empower you with choices where and how you finish

When Insight Is Not Enough: Therapy That Works With the Body, the Nervous System, and the Deeper Questions of Being Alive.
Many people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and capable — yet they feel chronically tense, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, frustrated, or quietly empty. They may have read the books, reflected deeply, and understood their history, but something essential has not shifted. My work is for those moments when understanding alone no longer brings relief, and when the question becomes not only what happened to me, but how do I come back into a felt sense of being alive and create from that space.

I support clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and the long-lasting effects of childhood trauma.
Hello, I’m Emma, founder of The Flawed Journey a private practice I created in 2019 to offer a space that feels real, safe, and deeply supportive. I work with adults who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them - overthinking, people-pleasing, anxiety that spirals, low self-esteem, or the lingering impact of childhood experiences.
You might feel disconnected from yourself, struggling in your relationships, or wondering why you keep repeating the same patterns even when you know they’re not helping. Maybe you’re simply tired of carrying everything alone.

Hi, I’m Bhav. I offer gentle, relational counselling for people who feel deeply and often feel alone in what they carry. You may be struggling with self-doubt, fear of abandonment, relationship pain, or the quiet grief of infertility and life not unfolding as hoped. In our work together, we begin gently and at your pace, making space for what feels hard to name, understand, or hold on your own. Through experiential and relational therapy, I support you to make sense of patterns, feel less overwhelmed, and reconnect with yourself.

I am a certified counsellor specialising in trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and addictions (sex and porn, eating, substance).
Life can be messy, chaotic, and painful. It can also be filled with connection, meaning, and healing. In the midst of past wounds and present challenges, it can be difficult to see options available to us. But I believe that we can all find new avenues of growth and recovery through vulnerability and therapeutic work, and that is why I am here.

Psychologist for Globally Mobile Professionals, Immigrants & International Students in English & Mandarin. You moved to Singapore or built a life across multiple countries, and somewhere along the way, something inside stopped fitting. You may be a foreign professional navigating a new culture while managing high performance expectations. You might be an international student far from everyone familiar. You could be a trailing spouse rebuilding identity in a city that isn't yours yet. Or you're an immigrant or returning Singaporean who has spent years adapting so well on the outside that no one sees the quiet exhaustion within.

I also work with anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, and insomnia, including CBT-I.
In couples therapy, I specialise in high-conflict relationships, recurring arguments, and trust issues.
Because most of my work takes place in a residential rehabilitation clinic in Switzerland, my private appointments are limited.

I am a somatic psychotherapist (SEP). I journey with my clients to uncover and understand the source of symptoms whenever possible, predominantly using somatic modalities in my work such as Somatic Experiencing and Neuroaffective Touch. I frequently overheard people telling others to “just accept and let go”. But usually when some heard about this comment, they would use different tones to reply “yah! I got accept what but I still felt wronged……”. In this case, you would not experience inner peace and emotions are being repressed, which could result in more inner wounds. Therefore, I sincerely invite you to embark on your healing journey by exploring and examining your life through therapy to have a better understanding of your emotions, feelings, and thoughts, you are most welcome to contact me to find out more. Together, let’s embark on this healing journey.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
