Attachment-based Therapists in Bedok
Drawing from attachment-based work, EFT, the Gottman Method, CBT, DBT, and ACT, I help individuals and couples build emotional awareness, improve communication, and resolve conflict.
People often seek therapy when something feels wrong emotionally, relationally, or internally. This may show up as low mood, anxiety, burnout, recurring relationship conflict, or a sense of disconnection from oneself or others. I work with couples who feel emotionally distant, stuck in repeated conflict, or uncertain about their future, as well as individuals navigating low mood, anxiety, burnout, or dissatisfaction despite outward success. I also support engaged couples and startup co-founders seeking premarital or organisational counselling to build emotional awareness, clarify values, and create secure, intentional partnerships.

I work with high-functioning individuals who understand their patterns but still experience them in the moment. They are often holding it together externally, successful, capable, and self-aware, but know something internally is not shifting. Many have tried therapy, coaching, or tools that helped to a point, yet the same responses still show up under pressure, in relationships, or in key moments. They’re not looking for more insight. They’re looking for change that actually holds.

A therapist with a difference. The past 21 years in this field have taught me that besides being professional, well trained, a therapist has to be genuinely humane, humble, approachable, and compassionate with a sense of humour, whilst supporting, walking with clients on their journey to wellness. I don’t give advice, because I believe each client is the expert of their own lives. No individual person is a problem but a problem is a problem and my job is to help clients recover remember and reclaim their agency. I was not there at the start nor can change it but I can be there to empower you with choices where and how you finish

Many of my clients are intelligent, capable, high-functioning adults, couples, parents, and professionals who feel stuck in recurring patterns despite significant effort to improve things. They often come seeking help for relationship difficulties, emotional disconnection, intimacy concerns, anxiety, family conflict, parenting challenges, compulsive behaviours, or the effects of trauma and difficult life experiences. Together, we work to understand the deeper attachment, developmental, emotional, and relational patterns driving these struggles so lasting change becomes possible.

I work with clients seeking a sense of safety and resolution – in mind and body. While talk-based therapy has important merits, neuroscience shows that addressing the mind is insufficient. Healing truly happens when we address the body and nervous system. This is the work I do with clients to heal at the root, to find a felt-sense of ease and safety.
I work with clients struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, interpersonal issues, workplace challenges, existential crises and more. Many of them have gone through talk-based, cognitive-behavioural therapy and still felt stuck – if this is you, you're not alone.

I believe that each individual has their own unique way of perceiving the world and experiencing the world around them. In addition to symptom reduction, I also emphasise the importance of attending to core issues and the context with which one's distress develops.

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
