A therapist with a difference. The past 20 years in this field have taught me that besides being professional, well trained, a therapist has to be genuinely humane, humble, approachable, and compassionate with a sense of humour, whilst supporting, walking with clients on their journey to wellness. I don’t give advice, because I believe each client is the expert of their own lives. No individual person is a problem but a problem is a problem and my job is to help clients recover remember and reclaim their agency. I was not there at the start nor can change it but I can be there to empower you with choices where and how you finish

I help clients of all ages, races and genders (Including non-gender specific) all over the world. Every human is born into the world innocent but somewhere along the way we may have gotten 'lost'. Perhaps when we were children we grew up in unsafe surroundings and built an armour around us or in our adulthood, life threw us a curve ball. Unresolved emotions often; if not always, create health issues. They also show up as as negative behaviours or difficult emotions such a anger, rage, depression, anxiety, etc. By coming to this page, you took the first step! Well Done!

Samantha is a clinical psychologist, she believes the same procedure cannot work on everyone as everybody is unique. For this reason, she goes the extra mile and modifies her techniques to cater to the very personal needs of her clients. She sometimes uses multiple techniques and a combination of them to provide her clients with whatever suits the best to them.  Hypnosis, Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic are some of the methods she uses. She considers the goal of her practice is to see her clients living a fulfilling life and enjoying it at its best within themselves and with their loved ones.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
